La Transjurasienne will take place as planned
It is for sure now! La Transjurasienne can and will take place the coming weekend as planned. Long time the organizers and participants had to fear a cancellation again like last year since snow was missing and temperatures were high. But during the last days the weather stabilized and now also new snow is arriving.
The organizers are relieved
“In light of the actual snow conditions and the weather forecast this coming week, La Transju’ 2017 will be held on a 47 km track between Bois d’Amont and Prémanon, but passing through Les Rousses and Lamoura. Our goal is still to pull off 50 km for the long events”, declares Pierre-Albert Vandel, President of Trans’Organisation during the press conference given in Besancon at the regional headquarters (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté).
So the start of all long races on Saturday and Sunday – the 50 km classic and the 54 km & 68 km (become one event) are going to start in Bois d’Amont and lead over 47 km at least, the organizers are still working on 3 more to ensure a 50 km competition. The start in these races is divided into 3 and 4 waves. The short races over 25 km on Saturday and Sunday are going to start in La Darbella. The finish for all competitions is located in the Village of Premanon, like it was in 2008 and in 2011.
Still much work to do
Emmanuel Jonnier, race director, and ex-French national cross-country skier says that “we were able to define and materialize this track thanks to the excellent preparation work that was done by the professionals in Les Rousses resort and the National Nordic Ski starting from when we got the first snow falls… even if they were few and far between. We are still facing an enormous amount of work to optimize the tracks and last details so that the Transju will live up to its legendary reputation.”

Pierre-Albert finishes the press conference by adding, “Even if this track will by-pass several villages included in the original track, all of the Transju volunteers will be present. They will team-up and pull their efforts together for a collective success of this 2017 edition… that’s the Transju spirit!”
