Marathon track open
The 42 marathon kilometers from Maloja to S-chanf are now open.
The long awaited cold temperatures of the last few nights made it possible to open the whole marathon track for the cross-country skiing sport. The responsible grooming personal as well as the responsible personal of the communities accomplished an extraordinary effort to be able to open this part of the track at all. As it was not possible to groom the huge amount of snow on the lake with the big grooming machines this part of the track had to be prepared with Skidoos. The whole track is in very good condition. Right now only the skating track is open on the lakes. Classical tracks will be groomed as soon as possible.
More heavy snowfall or warm temperatures could still influence the conditions on the lakes. Therefore the conditions will be observed and evaluated on a daily basis.
