Marcialonga 2026 – A Winter of Skiing and Olympic Spirit

The valleys of Fiemme and Fassa are buzzing with excitement as they prepare to host the Nordic skiing, Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined events of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. For cross-country skiers, this creates a unique moment: take part in the 53rd Marcialonga and soak up the Olympic atmosphere in the very same locations — Lago di Tesero and Predazzo.

If you haven’t secured your start yet, entries are still available both individually and through partner tour operators offering travel packages. Marcialonga remains one of the great classics of the Worldloppet – and 2026 adds an extra layer of energy and anticipation.

New Leadership, New Energy

Marcialonga has introduced a new president: Tiziano Romito, a long-time consultant to the event, sports enthusiast and amateur cross-country skier. His vision builds on the event’s strong roots while investing in teamwork, volunteer involvement and environmentally responsible sport. As he put it, the future of Marcialonga will focus on “natural sports” and sustainability, with new initiatives already being explored:
“Marcialonga is a well-established event. My goal is to create a close-knit management team. There will be a fundamental sporting component and a strong focus on volunteering. We are also talking about natural sports: our future excludes disciplines with a negative environmental impact, perhaps with new initiatives related to sustainability.”

He is succeeds long-time president and figurehead Angelo Corradini, who also was long-time Worldloppet President and now is Honorary President of the International Skifederation for popular skiing.

Moving to Make Space for the Olympics

To support preparations for the 2026 Winter Games, Marcialonga is temporarily moving out of its headquarters at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium. From 13 October, the team will operate from the ground floor of the Predazzo Town Hall (open Monday to Friday, 08:30–12:30 and 13:30–17:30). The temporary move also serves as a bridge to new activities and outreach projects.

Due to Olympic preparations, the usual side events cannot take place at the Lago di Tesero stadium in 2026. Instead, Pozza di Fassa will host the Marcialonga Story, Minimarcialonga and Marcialonga Young.

  • Marcialonga Story will start in Pozza di Fassa and finish in Canazei, with registration expected to open in mid-October.
  • Minimarcialonga and Marcialonga Young will also move to Pozza. The meeting point will be the local fire station, complete with fire engine displays, mascots and activities.

“A Timeless Bond” – Stories from the Community

The new office includes a lounge area featured in the official Marcialonga 2026 poster. Skiers and longtime friends of the race are invited to stop by and share their personal Marcialonga story. Anecdotes, memories and unexpected moments will be collected as part of the storytelling project “A Timeless Bond”—a tribute to five decades of passion, perseverance and community.

More detailed information will follow, but the goal remains the same: to make the Marcialonga weekend an inclusive celebration for all generations.
