Aspiring Waiorau Growth
The need for links to Worldloppet:
New Zealand has a small X-Country skiing community and is swamped by other winter activities including some snowsports. The potential links to the Worldloppet family with its knowledge and camaraderie make travelling out of NZ to experience more of our sport far less daunting and vital access to expertise that is only available to a limited extent in Oceania. In return we offer a very special local environment and a desire to learn and grow in a relaxed and friendly culture that welcomes visitors very warmly.
Potential venue for an FIS Marathon cup jointly with Australia:
Should the Merino Muster be accepted as an associate member of the Worldloppet Ski Federation then we are able to bid in conjunction with the Kangaroo Hoppet for two FIS Marathon Cup races to be brought to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time. This will represent a major boost to X-Country skiing in Oceania as our public will see members of the talented red group competing. It will add especially for NZ a boost for the Winter Games that now takes place every other year.
