New Track for the 38th Edition of La Transjurasienne
The weather circumstances of the last months also harmed the winter season in the French Jura Mountains, the home of La Transjurasienne – the 4th FIS Worldloppet Cup stage. But the OC, called the Trans´Organisation, and the thousands of participants have more luck than other races: Despite rain and warm air tracks survived and the weather changed to snowfalls and cold temperatures. That secured this year’s La Transjurasienne. But the weather has some influence on the race: The 38th edition of the biggest skimarathon in France will lead through a complete new 50 km track this weekend:
“Because of the current snow conditions combined with an instable weather forecast for the days to come, the 2016 Transjurassienne will be raced on a new 50 km track between Lamoura and Bois d’Amont, through Prémanon and Les Rousses”, said Hervé Balland, the President of Trans’Organisation during the press conference that took place yesterday in Besancon at the Conseil Régional de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
“We were able to define and select this track thanks to the confidence that the State services have placed in us, and the excellent preparation work achieved by Sogestar, the Communauté de Communes de la Station des Rousses and the National Nordic Ski School in Prémanon since the first snow falls… even though these have been quite scarce. Yet we are facing an important challenge this week in order to offer the thousands of Transju racers an experience that will rise up to its legend!”
“Unfortunately the race will not go through all the villages, but it can rely on all its volunteers!” remarks William Trachsel, Trans’Organisation General Coordinator. Even though the track will not go through all the nominal villages, the ski-clubs from the Jura, Doubs and Switzerland will be onboard to collectively make this 2016 event a true success. All the local ski-clubs (US Lamoura, SC Prémanon, les Skieurs Rousselands, SC Bois d’Amont, SC Le Brassus, SC Morbier-Bellefontaine-Morez, SC Mont Noir, Risoux-Club, AS Mouthe) will work closely with the numerous volunteers coming from the Jura Mountains to bring the Transju’spirit to this new 50km track!”
