Norwegians claim Marcialonga 2025 victories

The 52nd edition of the Marcialonga unfolded today, January 26, 2025, in Italy’s Trentino region, marking a highlight in the Worldloppet winter.The Norwegians Andreas Nygaard of Team Ragde Charge and Emilie Fleten of Team Ramudden clinching victories in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

Men’s Race: Nygaard’s Triumphant & Emotional Finish

The men’s 70-kilometer classic race commenced in Moena at 8:00 CET. Early stages saw teams working together well and setting a brisk pace. As the race progressed, a decisive breakaway formed, featuring Andreas Nygaard, Mathias Aas Rolid, Max Novak, and Amund Hoel. In a thrilling finale, Nygaard showcased his sprinting powers once more, securing his first Marcialonga victory with a time of 2:39:34.7. Max Novak of Team Aker Dæhlie finished a mere 0.5 seconds behind, while Amund Hoel of Team Engcon claimed third place, 11.8 seconds adrift. Novak – a Swede – by the way is the only non-Norwegian among top 10.

Women’s Race: Fleten’s Commanding Performance

Starting five minutes after the men, the women’s race quickly established a lead group. Despite early challenges, including a fall by Kati Roivas of Team Eksjöhus, the leading pack maintained a competitive tempo. Emilie Fleten emerged dominant, crossing the finish line in Cavalese to claim the women’s title. Her victory underscores her position as a formidable competitor in the long-distance skiing circuit.

Worldloppet Community Engagement

The Marcialonga continues to be a cherished event within the Worldloppet community, drawing participants and spectators from around the globe. About 50 Worldloppeters have joined yesterday’s special Welcome Party for Worldloppet Skiers. Marcialonga President Angelo Corradini and La Sorgherina have welcomed the skiers and awarded the new Worldloppet masters.
