Norwegians dominate challenging Fossavatnsgangan 2024

It is not a secrete, that the weather conditions in Iceland can be challenging. So it was not a big surprise today, when the participants of Fossvatnsgangan 2024 had to fight against strong wind and rain. A fight, won by two Norwegians.

300 competitors lined up at 8 am this morning for the 50-kilometer race. Right after, 114 participants joined the 25-kilometer race, with another 70 opting for the 12.5-kilometer challenge.

This year’s race saw some challenging conditions, with sharp eastern winds and light rain. However, the status of the track was still good for racing.

“It started raining late last night and was quite windy, so we were a bit worried about the track conditions, but they turned out to be good when the race started this morning,” says Bobbi Kristbjörn Róbert Sigurjónsson, one of the organizers of Fossavatnsgangan.
