Birkebeinerrennet

One meter of snow in the entire Birken arena

These news feel so good: The ski– and snow conditions are fantastic in the Birken area Lillehammer/Norway. More than one meter of snow on the entire Birkebeiner course and already well prepared  tracks.

More than 6000 have already registered for the Ski Birken in March. As we all know, many of us skiers feel frustrated because of the lack of snow in middle Europe. Even tough the next Worldloppet events in central Europe – Tartu Maraton and Engadin Skimarathon – have great conditions on their tracks. But why not spontaneously attending  Birken in March 16th? Either the main race over 54 km or one of the 6 other races offered, like the SkateBirken (March 15th).

Registration and accommodation for the best prize

Everyone registering before 1st March benefits from the early booking discount. So, now is the time to decide for a spontaneous trip to Norway. On Birken’s website the organizers have collected useful information to organize such a trip. You could also use the Worldloppet Skier’s Forum to exchange experiences and get assistance from other skiers.  Accommodation is still available in Hamar, Hafjell/Hunderfossen where you find direct bus connection to race start (Rena) and back from finish (Lillehammer).

We have generated a map, showing many available accommodations in the region. Check it out:
