One month to go to 44th Tartu Maraton

One of the biggest ski marathons in the Worldloppet calendar, the 44th Tartu Maraton in Estonia is just one month away. Tartu Maraton takes place on the 21st of February and the organizers are expecting more snow for quality course: “Already yet, the course is okey and today can be skied with an older ski in free and classic technique,” said chief of course Assar Kütt. “We have approximately 10-15cm of snow on the whole 63km track and everyone is welcome to train on the course. But we still need more snow for the course to withstand large masses of skiers.”

“If Tartu Maraton would take place this weekend, the race would not be cancelled,” adds race director Indrek Kelk. “But sure we need more snow to produce a quality competition.” And this is highly needed as the main race in classic style is the 5th stage of the FIS Worldloppet Cup 2016.

At the moment in total 4200 participants have registered for Tartu Maraton. Organizers are expecting at least antother 1000-2000 to add for the starting list. Cheaper registration fee is still available until the 31st of January.
