The 49th Bieg Piastow as Grande Finale of the Polish Cross-Country Ski Festival
The grand finale of the 49th Bieg Piastów – Cross-Country Ski Festival is ahead of us. Four races will be held on well prepared tracks in the Jizera Mountains, centered on Polana Jakuszycka in Szklarska Poręba (Poland), coming weekend, March 7 to 9, with the participation of over 4,000 competitors from 30 countries. Also the Queen of Polish Skis, Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekieli, will start.

Races over distances of 25, 30 and 42 kilometers will once again be included in the classification of the Worldloppet series. The organizers, Bieg Piastów Association, faced a big challenge: Rising temperatures and lack of snowfall made it necessary to use artificial and natural snow storage facilities. As they had to cancel the race past season, the organizers did everything in advance to ensure the race this year. And this was needed. The stored snow got fertilized in places along the tracks where natural snow was missing. Thanks to this, the route of the main race has retained the marathon distance and will be over 42 km (originally 50 km). The start and finish line are located at the DCS Polana Jakuszycka stadium, where also all facilities are located.
