Worldloppet Annual General Meeting 2023 in Oberammergau
As every year, the delegates from the Worldloppet member nations were meeting past weekend for the Worldloppet Annual General Meeting 2023. The meeting has taken place in the Bavarian Oberammergau, the venue of König Ludwig Lauf.

When the delegates had a look back into the past season, the conclusion is promising. The major part of the 19 races has climbing participants numbers to show. Some even had a record year in 2022/23. For example, the Czech Jizerska 50, with 9,200 skiers, had its strongest year.
In 2023/24 some well-known ski marathons are going to celebrate their jubilee. The American Birkebeiner is going to turn 50, same as the Tartu Maraton. The Swedish Vasaloppet is going to take place for the 100th time, just to name some.
One of the main topics discussed was the attractivation of the Worldloppet Passport system. Many benefits and advantages for the Passportholders were discussed and planned for the upcoming season.

For the Worldloppet Skifederation itself the plan for the upcoming years clear: “We want to be the voice for popular cross-country skiing, and we are! This is our self image and this is the path we follow.”, says Juha Viljamaa, Worldloppet President.
Beside meetings and decisions, the delegates also found some time to welcome guests from sports media and tourism at the Worldloppet Annual General Meeting 2023. Also for some excursions into the famous Basilica Ettal and the royal Castle Linderhof.

The next Annual General Meeting is going to take place in Japan, at the Sapporo Ski Marathon venue in 2024.
