Update: Jizerska 50 will take place as elite race! And the popular skiers?
Today our Czech representative, the Jizerska 50 announced the latest update about their event in 2021. Already 5000 registered skiers are waiting for the health ministry to decide if the race can take place or not. Snow is no problem in 2021. The tracks are groomed and the weather situation is great.
Now the authorities gave their permission for an elite race. That means, that Jizerska 50 will take place exclusively with elite skiers, as planned on 14th February. Same counts for the elite sprint taking place on the same weekend.
And the thousands of popular skiers? Unfortunately, the authorities gave no permission to any kind of popular race. Also the idea of an open track event, skied individually, was not satisfying enough for the health ministry.
Now the Jizerska50 organizers want to offer a virtual event instead. News about that will come very soon. We keep you updated!
