Already past season the global ski federation Worldloppet and the European Union of Cross-Country skiing Marathons (EUC) Euroloppet announced a cooperation. Euroloppet is also the organizer of the annual European Ski Marathon Championships, in which every popular skier can be part of. For the upcoming winter, the two organizations have reconfirmed their common paths. 

“In times like these unity, respect and common goals are more important than ever. This is why I am proud, that Euroloppet and Worldloppet are going on with the cooperation to the future.”, says Worldloppet President Juha Viljamaa.

Also, Ivo Ivanič President of EUC attaches great value to the cooperation with Worldloppet: “For us, it is our heart’s desire to see the cross-country skiing family united. By promoting each other’s races, cross-country skiers have a great overview of the entire race calendar and all the opportunities to pursue their hobby.”

Beside common promotion of the sport of popular cross-country skiing both organizations are fully represented in the Global Ski Marathon Calendar. 

62 organizations in one Calendar

The Global Ski Marathon Calendar brings together all popular ski races in the world. No matter which distance, participants number, history or series… every race could join the calendar. 

The idea is, to provide a tool for skiers to plan their winter season and to give them a chance to not only find the well-known big races, but also smaller events. 

The upcoming season 2023 will be the 4th season for the Global Calendar. The first 3 years have been challenging: First a snowless winter, then Covid-19. But nevertheless already 62 organizers have entered the Calendar 2023. More will join until winter starts. 

Global Ski Marathon Ranking

One main feature of the Gloabl Calendar is the Global Ski Marathon Ranking. Every organization represented in the calendar gives points to their participants. Everyone can compare his own performance with all other skiers in the world. There is an overall ranking, but also a ranking for each age group. 

The Global Ski Marathon Ranking is not only a valuable tool for skiers, but also for race organizers. As the race participations of the past two years are considered, the ranking helps organizers with the seeding process.
